Not sure if this was already suggested. But here we go.

    - A bit if background (skippable):
Long time ago together with 4-5 friends we decided to share a new account in topdrives.club web and there upload cara in different tunes and upload track times. We managed to have quite huge database there, until some changes in game happened and most of it suddenly went outdated. Truth is that it was huge work and lot of writing and uploading.

    - Recent background:
Now, just saw some guy on FB saying he wanted to make something similar, some public database collaborating with people in some spreadsheet in Reddit and make many different tunes for all cars or so. But will face same problem I faced and it’s lots of work for then some game mechanic change it all and turn all hard work to nothing worth it unless updated. Too much hustle.

    - Suggestion:
This made me think, that maybe Hutch could implement such database in the game. But, not public. I mean:
        - When we use a car, in whatever tune in whatever track, then the time done will be saved. And if tune is changed then either all times delete and do again, or, then just updated when play again tracks with new tune.
         - Where this can be stored and view? So when selecting a car, that we can now turn card and see more options, maybe there scrolling down could be some “track times” area at the bottom saying in which tracks that specific car was used and what times it did. So each one could make its own testing and check which car could be potentially better than another one.

With this, it could help us decide which car or tune to use.

Truth is that we are already doing this playing single player mode, writing down times or asking in forums or friends. Will save lot of time and asking around. And it would be naive to think this can alter much game “testing” of try and error since it’s quite easy to see in forums people sharing times public or private or so. And not everybody checks that anyway and maybe many would check this maybe.

So I can’t see anything more than a big quality of life improve. Or that’s what I think.

Sorry for the long walk of text and thanks for reading if you made it so far :p

One aspect of this racing is the unknown result, if everyone have access to the best tune or best suitable car for a specific track will remove that element. And it's a huge set of data, it's the resolver that hutch uses. Nice idea I agree but will never happen.

Well, it’s a quality of life improvement after all, no one said is a must or needed or main priority.
During finals i spend time checking times, writing them down and comparing cars in single player mode and with friends to know which car will be best in each race in each track set... to maximize the hand possibilities and I’m sure many more do same. No one goes blind, most people already go in knowing tracks and having overview of what’s good hand for events. So this is nothing crazy or nothing that will alter what many players are doing already but with pen and paper and friends contributions...

plus lots of people asking for test tracks so they can check times and cars and so on, this would be just perfect combination to that idea, why would people want a test environment where they can choose tracks if not for check car times?
Hutch have already explained why they won’t add a testing environment in-game. I was actually looking this up the other day. In the Top Drives Show Episode 7, Tim responds specifically to a question about adding a testing environment. Keep in mind this was way back in 2018, but I imagine the sentiment remains the same

“And I'd always go back to the thing I always bring up in these discussions, like who would benefit, what does this feature really do? Because currently, I know that players who are really serious about it and have paid attention know which tracks are where in the campaign and if they want to test their cars and find out what's good they go there to do it and so maybe that gives them a slight advantage. But also of course, if you're of a mind to really test it, if it comes up in an event, even tracks that aren't in the campaign, you can use the event itself to test the cars, and actually with the way scoring works, even if you test a car and find out it's not the best, it's probably not gonna damage your final position, probably in the final day you'll be able to use that knowledge and rank up. So, in terms of who benefits, it's like, currently the people who know this thing have a slight advantage, and then if we add this in, oh alright, now everybody can do it and the only people who really get an advantage are the people who have no pad and pen and spend an hour doing it...I don't know, I feel like it's quite good who have the advantage now, anybody else could do what they're doing, and the other thing is because it's so deterministic, like you put this car with this upgrade on this track and you know what it's going to do, I think as soon as we added a feature like that, we would very quickly find players have made a wiki of all of the tunes and all of the tracks and then you wouldn't need the test scene anymore, you'd just look at that, and then suddenly it would become this game which is not about figuring out the best tune, it will be a game about, go to the wiki, look at the thing, do the thing. That whole bit of discovering it would actually end up going away if we made it that easy, so I'm not sure that actually, even though it is something you'd wanna do, and we do have it ourselves and go "ah, that's quite interesting", and we obviously use it to determine prize cars, I don't think it's actually necessarily a good thing for the game."

That would be a lot of backend database storage for Hutch
So maybe is about time they start using also phone to store game data and not just rely on server. I would be more than glad to allow game eat a GB of space if that’s what takes for times to be stored ... actually hands saved are in theory saved in device you use. So why not also times?
How would the functionality work?  You wouldn't be able to check times during a race, so you'd still have to write it down.

Well, you’d know which 5 cars to use and the tune if happen to have same car with different one. And then just matter to remember which one would benefit more in which track..
even thou many times ends up being out cars in places to win what other person put in there..

Most ppl DON'T do that, in a bracket of 500 players only 10% prepare and studies the tracks, that's why you have a small advantage over them, what you are proposing is removing that advantage.
Thankfully a lot of kids voting in TD.clubs for best tuning, best tune its 99% 969, yea right, thank god ppl using this as an advisor and the rest of us have easy targets, imagine everyone have access to the best tune without any effort ;) .

Going through the KTPlay thread to centralise all ideas in my doc. As such, I've hidden that thread and removed posts as I make note of them. Expect me to do the same here.

Also, there's a lot of non Quality of Life / Accessibility features here, they will be removed without consideration. You can start a thread about any bigger feature if you wanted at any point - it doesn't need to be here.

One time chance to change a tune on a car

Another QoL is to update some of the track names to differentiate them. Examples to be adjusted include, but not limited to:
    • Santa Monica Medium Streets (currently City Streets Medium)
    • I believe some of the drags also need to be looked at. I think there are 2 versions of 1/2 mile and 2 versions of 1 mile

To add to this, basically all of the Santa Monica/Pier tracks need to be specifically named, just like the Tokyo & Mountain tracks.  i.e.
    - Pier Short Drag (is this a 1/4 mile?)
    - Pier Long Drag (since this isn't actually 1/2 mile)
    - Pier Car Park (Pier Parking Lot?)
    - Pier City Streets (we only have one, why call it medium?)
    - Pier Highway (probably the only one that doesn't need a rename, but might as well keep the convention)
    - Pier Slalom

You could make the last round of the weekly challenge replayable, and any other challenges as well. If we finished the challenge and got the last round prize, we could replay the last round and effectively farm, but officially and with 3 stars... I have finished lots of weekly challenges with 3 stars, unwillingly, and could not farm anything from Wednesday morning onward.

First of all congrats for this epic game!

I would suggest to add a second decimal place to 0-60 for better comparison. (3.55 instead of 3.6)

And maybe a three-digit grip level for finer classification.

Then I miss a TCR and ABS filter, especially for wet conditions. Best in one section with ground clearance and tyres/wheel drive.

I also would love to sort by selling price, not for a better gameplay but out of curiosity.

Plus it would be great to have the opportunity to (virtually) exchange cards. Just like on the playground. I give these 3 cards of same grade to get the desired one. Well, that’s personal frustration as I never got a Mazda RX7 or 240Z Rally car, everyone else seems to have multiple ;)

    Thanks & Regards

PLEASE add a confirmation screen/button for purchases. I dont' know how many times i've just picked up my phone, and somehow magically made a CF pack purchase for some garbage pack while a tri-series event was on. at least if i accidentally bought a CF for the tri-series i'd be some what less upset about it, but to buy some japanese pack while a  ER final is happening is just retarded. This is the only game i've seen without a secondary confirmation button. you click anywhere on the page, and you buy the pack. this really needs to get addressed.

Please add a button to this screen:

to allow me to opt out of notifications about 'influencers' content.
No that's not it. They need to make it so the notifications buttons actually work. I've got them all turned off and yet I still get notifications all the time. I'm going to have to tell my phone to just not allow ANYTHING out of Top Drives at this rate.

But yes at least while the notifications toggles don't even work, @Hutch_Dmitri, can we please not have notifications about cringey influencer content?

Also would be great if the SoundFX toggle worked too.
I'm afraid that we will keep pushing influencer content for the time being. However I do appreciate that it may not be the wanted content for you. We are currently building new messaging tools which should give us more options for targeting, and I'd like to see an option allowing players to opt out of receiving influencer content.

The issue with the checkboxes in the screenshot above not working properly is separate and needs investigation, thank you!

In defence of influencer notifications, we've only sent two so far, with 10 days between them, which is way less than any other notifications. And we are not planning to have smaller gaps for this, at this point we are testing the uptake and feedback, so what you said is a part of that feedback! I'd also note that our plans are to push useful and original content that can help and excite players. We want to avoid spam as much as possible.

Just to add to the above, after chatting to the team I've been told that if you disable ALL notifications in the menu seen above, you will still get some notifications that we set up manually, while the automatic ones like those reminding of fusing, expiring cars etc should stop. I will try to test it today, but let me know if that's the case for you. Thanks!

And another update with no option to change the username/opt out of Facebook....
Shall i post Robins FB here , or just forward all the mails i receive to his place in the future? Would this help?
Its not right that so much private data is open to the public, only because we need FB connect to save the game.
This is the first and only game where players can easily stalk familys of other players, send hatemails when you beat them etc.
I raised a thread about this and also contacted support. All they suggested was unlinking my Facebook account from the game which meant that I couldn't cloud save and play on my two devices. I told them I'd give them time to add the feature and failing that would report to the ICO.

Something I got used to but find somewhat irritating is the three star system in the bottom left next to the RQ values for car upgrades; apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but I haven't seen it mentioned.

I can see how it makes sense to subdivide the upgrade stages into not too many increments, but alloting one star to 8+ upgrades, two stars to 16+ and three stars to 24 does not really reflect the upgrade and fuse process, where 9, 15 and 24 are more natural subdivisions. I find myself never really paying attention to the number of stars on cars purely because it only gives a very crude estimate of where in the fuse process a car is.

To reflect upgrades more meaningfully, would it make sense to contemplate something more like a progress bar with 8 increments or even a 3x3 grid to show the types of ugrades done? Just a thought...

not sure if this has been brought up yet, but since I open the x5 ceramic pack on a regular basis....is there a chance that you can implement something like "flip all cards" option? Im getting annoyed alot by tapping for every single one of them by now.

We need something to see how many keys/tokens we have.

Maybe somewhere next to the amount of renown/cash/gold:

In the filters menu, can we have a save button? And maybe an extra button under miscellanous with all our saved filters?
  • D3nzelloD3nzello Posts: 281 ✭✭✭

since I was browsing around fpr some cars today, I was wondering if we could have some sort of tag or info if a price car has already been handed out....maybe on the backside, something like "rewarded 12.12.2020" but anything helps really, maybe even make the little cup symbol down left green instead of orange background etc.

Thank you, just let us show all cards at once, every card game or any game that shows a multiple of something let's you show all of them at once, efficiency is key saves on loading time as well.

a sell-all button would be nice, but secured by a failsafe such as, tap the dots in this random pattern to confirm.

    straight add-to-garage-and-lock feature.

ability to see in the holding pool whether you own a car already or not.

    cheers
