Top Drives User Interface Concepts

O__VERO__VER Posts: 2,048 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've been a bit bored at work lately so I decided to put a few of my ideas for the Top Drives user interface into a new home screen visual concept. This is entirely conceptual and the "My Club" parts are just speculative, given that mode hasn't been released yet and I haven't played it.

My main idea was to try and get more useful information onto the home screen and to give the content a hierarchy dependent on the user's progress. Essentially making the most important bits more obvious. I also wanted to give Top Drives a darker theme as I am not a big fan of the current somewhat clashy mix of colours.

For anyone interested, here are my full thoughts and changes:

  • Events is now the hero tile since most of us have finished the campaign. Campaign tucks away top right since it's not really important anymore. If a player hasn't completed the campaign, it would remain more prominent.
  • Events now shows the total number of live events and the number the player has entered.
  • Events has custom artwork showing the current main prize car event — a bit more effort to make things exciting and keep things from becoming stale.
  • My Club shows two types of information — details of club and ranking as well as current event and progress. This would update live.
  • Challenge is smaller but shows more information. It shows how many tickets you have, your progress through the five areas and time remaining.
  • Current offers is a slider which can scroll through all current special pack offers, and as an improvement, it shows the price without needing to tap it.
  • I moved the top bar around a bit because once you're RQ150, you don't really need to know about it. The trophies hopefully will become more useful so I left them larger. There is also an added feature of "My Stats" which would go to a screen showing your event and pack opening records.
  • Chat and Settings are moved to the far right which I feel is a more natural position for them.
  • Down the bottom, I made the Daily Reward section more useful in that it shows a countdown to your next reward.

I'm keen to hear what you guys think. If I have time and if there is positive feedback, I may rework a few other screens to be more useful too.

Also happy to make this a topic for everyone's concepts if others have ideas they'd like to show.

**** me that's gorgeous @O__VER.    I can just imagine that garage door opening and in drive those rq19 and rq15 fresh out of their pack.  **** I'd even be sorely tempted for that CF and 10 slots deal.

Really well done! Oddly calming yet efficient 👍

great work!  Now it more looks like casino as it should be

Thanks man. Haha it is probably a bit more 'casino' colourful than it needs to be but it is a wishlist UI more than anything.

Thanks @jiga! I was thinking while making it that it would probably end badly for people's wallets!

I really like it. This is one of those ideas I was talking about in my 'New cars are fine...' thread. I don't think changes like this need too much effort, but would keep the game fresh, unlike adding another hundred new cars, which takes away too much resources I'd imagine (with all the licensing stuff, getting the stats right, correcting them afterwards and so on). That leaves Hutch no time for these kind of things. I wouldn't mind PL9 (or 8.5) containing only the Clubs and lots of new QoL/design/new feature things. So well done and fingers crossed for this, and the recent QoL thread.

You had me at dark theme. Amazing work and I really like the way you've added so much more information without overloading the screen. Really great work.

Actually I think the screen is a bit overloaded with graphic and became a bit agressive. It is what I dont like in most Car Driving games. UI might be hard for those new old aged players.

I like current design because its light, only those red pack offers are disturbing.

But your mockup is really beautiful one.  It reminnds me the time when I played in PokerStars

Looks great and very informative and useful at the same time. Would love it if something like this was implemented.

@O__VER, I think you should re-post your (weight/ground clearance/main use) icon idea from a few weeks ago here, because it was nice, and may get more attention in this thread.

Well done, I love it. The dark theme is much appreciated, and I think your logic surrounding the resizing and placement of the different tiles and info is spot-on.

Almost 50 likes on this post. Hutch hire this guy because the game would look so much better like this!

@O__VER That simply looks amazing. Like it bought the UI 5 years ahead of what we have now and I can imagine the number of clicks needed to see some essential info. (i.e. Tickets left for events and challenges) is greatly reduced.

Thanks for all the support everyone.

I have had one or two suggestions to improve what I have done so I may put up a second version at some stage soon. I think the home screen is the most lacking part of the Top Drives experience but I have a few ideas for other parts of the UI too.

Nah they're "a small team, it's gonna take away too much from their time where they could be doing something else"

I really like this design. However:
    It's the SCG 003S, not the 003.
The red buttons down there are kinda too bright, hurts my eyes a little. Maybe dim the saturation a bit?
I actually prefer the settings on the top-left, and
the CHAT button should be gone altogether.
otherwise a very aesthetically pleasing design.
