Ariel Atom 4 (and ariel atoms in general)

Hello. I will try to make myself clear while providing as much decent links as I can but sadly information on Ariel Atoms is scarce. However I do think the handling on these cars is lower than it should be for quite a few reasons, and especially how the atom 4 should be the highest handling Ariel.

On the atom 4 in particular, in no way should the handling be lesser than the atom v8 considering we're comparing a car introduced in 2010 (The ariel 500 v8) to the most modern atom introduced 8 years later in 2018. The atom 4 has a brand new reworked suspension amongst other things to make it the best handling atom yet according to pretty much any online review you can find, and Ariel themselves who claim on their own website that it reaches more lateral G than a porsche GT3 (https://www.arielna.com/arielatom-4). Here we also have a review talking about how much of a difference the new suspension is (https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/ariel/atom-4/driving). Also the atom 4 is 10 years newer than the atom 3.5 with a whole new suspension braking system etc. and the only difference between them is 2 handling in game.

As for the ariels at large, I have had a very hard time finding reliable track times, the most ''official'' one I could find was the top gear lap. We have the Ariel 500 V8 who did one of their best laps of all time (https://www.topgear.com/show/lap-times) however the list of cars is incomplete on their own website a more up to date one can be found here (https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/top-gear-track). It laps the track faster than a mclaren 600lt or dodge ACR and their track is a small track where the Ariel 500 was noted to have done this lap on a moist track, which can be seen here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zNPFcn3pAw) and was at the time the fastest lap ever, faster than the Veyron SS. The only lap time I could find for the atom 4 is here (https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/anglesey-international-gp) However I do not know how reliable this information is. I did however find this nice video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olvLlN3LU1Y) of the Ariel 3.5R vs the caterham seven 620R. The overall result was that while the caterham pulled harder on straights, it just couldnt keep up with the Ariel's handling and kept losing ground with every corner.

Another article comparing the atom 4 to the caterham 620S (https://www.pistonheads.com/news/features/ariel-atom-4-vs-caterham-seven-620s/38967)

All in all I think that while some of the more basic/old Ariel models might have fair stats (imo they could still have a bit more handling but that's debatable) the higher end ones (3.5, 4 and the atom 500) really need more handling to reflect their real life performance on track beating a lot of supercars which are way faster in a straight

I have the atom 2 supercharged myself, i also did some research regarding Ariels vs cars like the superlight do too ariels having more aero, however i did find that the reason was the weight ration on them is 40:60 so you have so much weight on the rear wheels providing the 0-60 but not as good handling because the from wheels dont have much weight in them too stick it to the ground. :)

weight ratio is not the only answer to a cars handling. it also depends on other factors like suspension and aero.
